Landscapes
My paintings respond to place, mood, weather, and light. I aim to capture and heighten the colours in the landscape, the essence of the experience through intense scrutiny.
I often paint outside, from the places that resonate with me which I am drawn back to. But my work goes beyond recording a place; I become interested in the colours and shapes on the paper or canvas as the paintings take on a life of their own.
I respond intuitively to the landscapes and knowingly to the painted surface, building up gestural brush strokes and layers of colour allowing the dynamic and unexpected to emerge.
